· Council attempts to bring all parties together

Liverpool City Council's toursim Department has begun to make concrete efforts to involve Friends of Williamson's Tunnels in discussions with the developers of the Grinfield Street area and the Council themselves to shape the future of the site. Joint meetings are expected to be held shortly.

· Press coverage

A couple of small items appeared in local media recently, with representatives of the proposed Grinfield Street development declaring their intentions. Attention was focussed purely on the two tunnels they will be partially opening adjacent to their proposed student flats. No mention was made of the rest of the labyrinth, nor the tunnels believed to be underneath the land on which they intend to build. Some have complained that the coverage was misleading to the public as it gave the impression that (all) the tunnels were being saved.

· Warrington Talk

We're constantly giving presentations about the tunnels to groups in Merseyside but we should give a particular mention to the fact that some of the FWT committee gave a presentation to the University of the Third Age in Joseph Williamson's home town of Warrington in early October. A lively audience of a couple of hundred people enjoyed a slide show and talk and gave us many leads to follow up as part of our ongoing research.
