| FoWT receives £6,000 cheque from Natwest Community Force outside the Paddington Tunnels |
In December we received fabulous news from the Natwest Community Force Awards scheme. Thanks to your votes, Friends of Williamson's Tunnels was selected as a winner and has received a grant for £6,000. Over five thousand organisations and groups across the country took part and FoWT was one of 396 winners. Your on-line and telephone votes for our proposal saw us finish in the top three and therefore secure one of the valuable grants. As outlined in our candidate statement, the money is to be spent on a processing facility for what we excavate at the Paddington site when work there starts in the first half of 2012. The facility will be set up just around the corner from Paddington, on the site of the Williamson house on Mason Street. We're very grateful to everyone who
voted but also to Natwest Community Force. We look forward to contributing to
their aims to develop community schemes while at the same time satisfying all
our supporters' hunger to know what mysteries lay beneath the rubble in the
Paddington section of the Williamson tunnels. |
