Point of interest In his 1920s transactions of the Lancashire and Cheshire Historic Society, Charles Hand says that one of his fellow members' grandfather was a guest at the reputed dinner. The tale was passed down to the effect that Williamson led the remaining guests to a dining room above the ground floor. This fairly direct connection lends weight to the credibility of the story, but also suggests that the chamber that we call the banqueting hall today wasn't a banqueting hall after all. |
