| This is a view from the top of the huge mound of rubble which slopes up to the back of the Banqueting Hall. The explorers who have just come in through the gash in the distance give an idea of the scale of this massive room. Geologists have identified river bid strata in the side walls. The arched brick roof has survived very well, apart from the odd stalactite forming from slight seepage through the mortar between the bricks. |
