Because of its appearance, this arch in the wine bins room has become known as the 'bishops mitre'. It's actually the same as arches elsewhere in the system but has been partially walled up, with a large sandstone lintel across it. Williamson obviously didn't consider it necessary to have clear passage through the tunnel beyond, so had his men build a wall just high enough to see over. It's a shame that later (dirty) whitewash disguises the impressive brickwork of the arch.
