Although almost all the structures which Williamson built above land
are long gone, a number of sections of wall remain - not least the boundary
wall of his property, plus the odd innocuous-looking section of wall dotted
along Mason Street. The facade of the house presumed to be his own has at its
rear an easily missed feature, shown here. If you zoom in to the circled area
on the left, you can make out a pair of initials, blown up below. These are on
the back of the original string coursing and are in relief, proud of the stone
rather than being carved into it. This suggests that they date from the time
the stone was worked ... perhaps one of Williamsons men leaving his
trademark? |
