| Here are a couple of images showing Mason Street, with 140 years between them: |
| This view along Mason Street looking towards Paddington was
painted by William Herdman about 20 years after Williamson died. His house is
right above the head of the man walking along the street. Reproduced courtesy Liverpool City Libraries |

| This is more or less the same view today. Williamson's house is the cream coloured facade near the end of the street. Some sections of wall along here are original - built by Williamson's men. The railway line to Lime Street passes under our feet just a few yards ahead. | ![]() |
| ... and here are a couple of photos of the 'Banqueting Hall': |
| This photo from the late 1930s shows a couple of officials inspecting the 'Banqueting Hall' during the war, to see whether it could be used as an air-raid shelter. They decided against it. | ![]() |
| This is more or less the same view today, showing a bit more on the right. Notice how the slope of rubble going up to the back of the hall is still the same. It is under that slope that one would expect to find access to other parts of the labyrinth. | ![]() |
