With the Smithdown Lane stable buildings just demolished, from the road the view above was temporarily available in June 2001. We are looking at the south-east corner of the stable yard, with the double tunnel directly ahead to the left. The first phase of the new houses on this area can be seen in the distance and the second phase houses will be where the photographer was standing. Work was due to start on clearing out the double tunnel and the corner tunnel (hidden) shortly afterwards.
