This is just inside the 'well tunnel', so called because about 30ft in is a small room which is waterlogged. That water has traditionally prevented any exploration of what is really in that room, especially how deep it is and whether it connects in any way with the long-lost triple deck tunnel, believed to be beneath the photographer's feet. Clearance work in late 2001 saw a short initial length of this tunnel tidied up and it holds much potential for the future.
