Come and see the Tunnels!

The first section of the Williamson Tunnels is now open to the general public. Visiting the Williamson Tunnels Heritage Centre, everyone can now enjoy a guided tour of the famous 'double tunnel' and south tunnel, with an opportunity to relax in the new cafe bar under one of Williamson's famous arches.

Visitors can see and touch the brick and sandstone workings of this key section of the tunnels, whilst enjoying entertaining commentary from an expert guide.

The section which has now been opened is only the start. As can be seen in the map of the tunnels below, the remaining majority of the labyrinth is still hidden from view. However, plans are being drawn up for the excavation of the other sections with a view to their eventually joining the Stables section in a full-scale Williamson Tunnels experience.
